Wine growers, vintners and wine cellars exclusively producing wine from the wine-growing region of the Slovenian, Croatian and Italian Istria can take part in the professional competition for the best muscat of the “Sweet Istria” festival. This competition is open to yellow muscat, cipro muscat and dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet or sweet wines, regardless of the vintage year.
The most original dessert and the best cake contests are open to legal entities and independent confectioners or cooks who own catering facilities, shops, pastry shops, bakeries or other facilities where they prepare the cake or dessert registered for the competition, and offer it to their guests.
The desserts entered into the professional competition for the most original dessert of the “Sweet Istria” festival must contain at least one typical Istrian ingredient.
Before the “Sweet Istria” festival, the wines, desserts and cakes are usually evaluated by a panel of experts. The winning wines, desserts and cakes are later available to visitors during the festival.
